A One Night Show
A presentation of Paintings by Paul Bernstock and Thelma Speirs.
Thelma Speirs has taken the simple, utility, printed calendar as a starting point for a series of painted works.
The proportions, grid format and moon cycles are abstracted into representations of significant months and dates, both personal and historical.
Paul Bernstock’s new work uses a variety of found textiles and materials which are woven and boldly painted to create multi-layered, textural compositions which blur the lines between Art and Craft.
Inspired by 1970’s craft wall-hangings the paintings have a feel of abstracted cityscapes – Tower blocks, graffiti and underground maps.
